Job searching can sometimes be a long and challenging process, and rejection is often part of the journey. Whether you didn't get the job you were hoping for, or didn't quite make it to the interview stage, rejection can be hard to deal with. However, it's super important that you don't let it have a negative impact on your job search and motivation. Here's some tips on how to better deal with rejection and move forward with your job search.

Don't take it personally

Rejection doesn't reflect your worth as a professional or as a person. It's important to remember that hiring decisions are based on a huge variety of factors. It's not always about your skills or experience, it can sometimes just be about the fit.

Seek constructive feedback

Use your feedback! If possible, you should always ask for feedback from the employer. Why? it will give you a deeper understanding on areas you may need to improve upon, allowing you to work on these areas and refine your approach for your next opportunity. Sometimes one small bit of advice is all it takes to help you land that future job!

Take a Step Back

It's good to take a step back sometimes and reflect on what has went well so far. Did you learn anything new during the process? Make a list of things you have learnt and how they can help you in the future. It's also OK to take a break, take the time to recharge your batteries before returning to the job search. Regular breaks are crucial in helping you keep a positive outlook and to give you energy to move forward!

Celebrate the Small Wins

You may be feeling defeated after a job rejection, it's normal to feel that way, but you should also try to celebrate the small wins you've had along the way. Landing an interview or receiving positive feedback are just a few examples of the small wins you should be celebrating. Try to have a positive mindset as best you can!

Keep Your Eyes on the Bigger Picture

Rejection is part of the job searching process, but it's only a small part of it, it's not the end of your journey! The right job will come along for you, and by staying positive, persistent and patient, you could land it sooner than you think!

In conclusion, while job rejection can be tough, it's essential to view it as just a temporary setback in your overall job search journey.  Stay patient and focused, the right opportunity will eventually come your way!
